Hi-tech baggage system launches at Miami airport

A new automated baggage handling system is now operational at Miami International Airport.

Robots move baggage to security agents for inspection and explosive-detection equipment. The system, which can handle 7 000 bags per hour, is located in the airport’s south and central terminals and has 14km of belts.

Eighteen airlines already use the system to screen their luggage and an additional 30 airlines are expected to be added by mid-2020.
