Hungary drops all COVID entry regulations

Travellers to Hungary no longer have to meet any COVID-related entry rules after authorities removed all restrictions.

Neither a vaccination certificate nor pre-entry tests are necessary but visas and valid travel documents are required as usual.

Travellers can enter the country by road, rail, water and air – regardless of citizenship and protection against coronavirus – as long as other general conditions of entry (eg a valid travel document) are provided.

Hungary will thus ease the path of refugees from the conflict in Ukraine and also boost the tourism economy.

The majority of internal national COVID-19 restrictions have also been abolished. People no longer have to present a health pass when entering shopping centres, bars, cafés, restaurants, museums, theatres, cinemas or other venues.

Masks are no longer required in indoor spaces or on public transport.

Hungary is the third EU country to drop all COVID-related entry requirements, after Slovenia and Iceland.
