IndiGo trials device for pilots

Indian airline, IndiGo, is reported to be trialling a new technology that uses wrist and ground-based devices to detect the alertness of pilots.

IndiGo has partnered with French company, Thales Group, to test its Fatigue Analysis Tool over the next few months and analyse the data to resolve pilot fatigue issues, reports simpleflying.com.

“This initiative is to develop a fatigue detection model that offers detailed insights into demographic data, including routes, pairings, crew profiles, and more, going beyond traditional scheduling-focused biomathematical models,” IndiGo told SimpleFlying.

IndiGo will initially implement ground-based devices at the airline’s busiest bases, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru. Pilots will have to undergo a five-minute test before taking part in the trials.
