KZN tees off with travel industry golf club

Travel agents and their suppliers are invited to attend the inaugural game of the KZN Travel Industry Golf Club on February 24 at Mount Edgecombe.

Dinesh Naidoo of SWG Worldwide is the catalyst to bring the popular trade day to the Durban region.
Started 23 years ago in Johannesburg, the field there has grown from 12 players then, to up to 140 today.
The Western Cape TIGC has also flourished with half a dozen games a year.
The first KZN game is limited to 24 players with the first tee-off just after noon.
Dinner and prizes are being sponsored by Travel News Weekly and Bidvest Travel Insurance.
“The whole idea of KZN having its own travel golf club is to get people of all skill levels together so they can have fun but also enjoy some productive networking,” said Jose Cruz, the long-serving chairman of the original TIGC.
"There is only one inaugural game, so if you are in the Durban area make sure you apply early to be one of the participants in this historic game. The field is limited and only open to members of the trade," said Jose.
Several players from the other TIGC clubs will also attend. A steering committee to get the club on the road will be elected at the prize-giving dinner.
Playing fee of R200 includes prizes and dinner. Contact donovan@serendipitytours.co.za. Suppliers that wish to sponsor future games should also contact Donovan.
