Lufthansa City ready for take-off

Lufthansa has announced the initial routes for its latest short-haul subsidiary, Lufthansa City during the summer 2024 season.

Two Airbus A319s have already been painted in the new livery, and the airline said bookings would be available for the summer season from April.

The initial routes for summer 2024 consist of domestic flights from the Munich hub to Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Cologne and Hanover, as well as three international routes to Birmingham, Bordeaux and Manchester.

The plans for the subsidiary were revealed in April last year. The airline is going to expand the network gradually and has already ordered 40 Airbus A220-300s.

The launch of the regional subsidiary comes at a time when other European countries, such as France and Spain, are cracking down on short-haul flights that can instead be serviced by rail.
