The Lufthansa Group is planning to reorganise and integrate all its airlines’ (Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, and Brussels Airlines) core functions to strengthen and expand its market position.
The changes, expected to be implemented by January 1, 2026, will likely affect the structure of the group, as well as the processes, financial management framework, and cross-group collaboration. Cooperation within the group will be managed by ‘Group Function Boards’, which will include representatives from each of the airlines.
IT functions will also be combined to build central digital expertise in operations, customer, commercial, and corporate areas.
Short- and medium-haul flights across all airlines will be managed at group level, in coordination with each airline. This model is already in place for long-haul flights.
Airlines will continue to make their own decisions about the customer experience of their guests. This applies to the in-flight product, catering, lounges and passenger service. Airlines will also remain responsible for the management of their respective flight operations and operational flight services.
