Lufthansa launches Allegris cabins

On Thursday, March 2, Lufthansa launched a completely refreshed cabin concept in Berlin.

The group says it is improving the overall travel experience for customers in all classes: economy, premium economy, business and first class, through Allegris, its new, top-quality long-haul product featuring unparalleled seating variety.

This involves the largest product and service overhaul in the airline’s history, with a total investment of €2,5 billion (R48,4bn) by 2025.

First-class suites

The first-class overhaul featuring two new suites will be introduced in 2024 on the newly  delivered Airbus A350s. The single and double suites will be fully enclosed.

The double suites will have four seatbelts each, accommodating up to four adults and feature two wide seats that can be converted into a double bed.

Business-class suites

The Allegris business-class suites can be connected to ensure privacy for guests travelling together.

Business-class guests can enjoy their own suite with chest-high walls and sliding doors. Travellers in the first rows will enjoy extended personal space. Each suite has its own wardrobe and personal minibar. Inside, the two suites can be connected so business-class guests travelling together can enjoy their privacy.

Travellers can choose between six additional seat options, depending on whether they want an extra-long bed measuring 2m, extra space and work area, a seat with a baby bassinet, or an exclusive seat directly by the window. A double seat, in which the centre console can be retracted to transform it into a reclining surface for two, is also available.

The seats can be converted into a bed of at least 2m long and offer generously-sized dining tables. All seats also have a heating and cooling system. The seats also feature a shoulder sink-in for added comfort while sleeping.

Premium economy and economy

The new premium economy class was introduced on SWISS in Spring 2022. The Allegris seat offers more leg-room, a fold-out leg rest, and can be adjusted further back than the current model.

Lufthansa is giving guests significantly more choice in economy. Travellers will have the option of booking additional seats in the first rows that offer more leg-room, or a free seat next to them.

With Allegris, more than 80 brand-new Lufthansa aircraft, including Boeing 787-9s, Airbus A350s and Boeing 777-9s, will fly to destinations around the world. Aircraft already in service with the airline, such as the Boeing 747-8, will also be retrofitted.
