The Lufthansa Group has partnered with Amadeus on an initiative the airline says will make booking, adjustments and managing flights simpler.
The focus is on the introduction of an Order ID, an identification number that will eventually replace the previous booking and ticket numbers to bring together components of a trip. These include the flight, reserved seats, baggage and additional services such as upgrades and lounge access.
The goal is to enable passengers to access passenger information, rebook flights, make additional bookings, and adjust travel plans at short notice.
The new Order ID is being introduced gradually at several airlines in the Lufthansa Group and complements existing offerings such as Travel ID, which will continue to display the personal customer profile.
