Kuwaiti airport solutions company, National Aviation Services (NAS), and Zambian passenger handling operator, NAC2000 Corporation, have been awarded a tender by Zambia Airports Corporation Ltd (ZACL) to operate a lounge in a new terminal at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka.
The terminal is due to open in August.
The lounge will be in the airport’s planned new terminal, which is scheduled to open in August.
The exclusive departure lounge, over 550 sqm, will cater for all passengers.
ZACL has committed US$360m to ongoing expansion at the airport.
Kenneth Kaunda International Airport hopes to serve as a hub for the Southern African region. Currently, it has capacity for two million passengers per annum, which is expected to increase to 4,2m-6m.
International airlines, including Proflight Zambia, Air Tanzania, RwandAir, Airlink, Ethiopian Airlines, Emirates, CemAir, and KLM, operate out of the airport.
Zambia Airways is intending to have its home-base at this airport. However, there is no set date yet for the carrier’s resumption of operations.
