The Malawi Ministry of Health has confirmed that the country’s borders have reopened to all international travellers, with remaining travel restrictions and quarantine requirements lifted.
Malawi originally closed its borders to all travellers except Malawi residents and citizens in June in an effort to limit the impact of a third wave of COVID-19. Now, anyone with a negative PCR test no older than 72 hours can enter the country, with clearance from the Ministry of Health no longer needed beforehand.
In addition, India, Pakistani, Bangladesh, Nepal and Brazil are no longer categorised as high-risk countries. Therefore, travellers from these countries will no longer be required to quarantine when they land in Malawi.
