Certified tour guides in Marseille have introduced affordable monthly guided walking tour experiences to encourage travellers to explore the city’s iconic landmarks and neighbourhoods.
Provence’s certified tour guides, licensed by the French Ministry of Culture, told Travel News Daily that the tours would take place on the first Saturday of every month.
The first guided tour took place on June 6 and focused on La Joliette district. La Joliette has undergone a significant transformation in recent years and combines Marseille’s maritime heritage with contemporary architecture and urban development.
The two-hour walking tours charge travellers only €5 (R95) per participant. As tour group sizes will be limited to 25 people, advanced online bookings on the Provence Tour Guide website is essential.
