MSC Cruises is raising its global exposure through sponsorship of Formula 1 motor racing, football and basketball.

According to cruise website Crew Center, the group is expanding its portfolio with major sport clubs and franchises around the world in a US$10 billion (R180,8bn) investment plan announced in 2017.

Its current sponsorships include Formula 1, the SSC Napoli Football Club, Chelsea Football Club, US football team The Miami Dolphins and US basketball team The New York Knicks.

MSC Cruises CEO, Gianni Onorato, said: “F1 gives us the opportunity to deliver our brand message across the world. This fits with our other sports sponsorships, such as the well-known soccer brands Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, and in basketball, the New York Knicks, which is drawing record spectator and viewer numbers.

“These sponsorships give us a high and positive visibility across the globe and in key markets,” said Onorato.
