MSC Group and Casa de Campo Resort & Villas have announced a new joint venture to operate and redevelop Catalina Island in the Dominican Republic, just off the coast of La Romana.
The long-term venture will see the companies collaborate to upgrade infrastructure and the visitor experience on the island. The island will welcome cruise guests from MSC Cruises, Explora Journeys and other cruise lines, as well as private clients, including those from Casa de Campo Resort & Villas.
Upgrades to the island include:
- A signature open-air beach pavilion buffet offering international dishes and local specialties. An adjacent shaded dining area will offer al fresco table seating with panoramic sea views.
- A tropical open-air bar with a shaded social pavilion and ocean views.
- A water sports centre with equipment available to rent to explore the surrounding waters.
- Comfortable daybeds and cabanas available for rent.
MSC Cruises recently announced year-round sailings from La Romana, in the south of the Dominican Republic, from November – the first time the cruise line has offered year-round sailings in the southern Caribbean.
