Navigating the Games on TfL’s improved site

With the Olympic Games starting this week, Transport for London has teamed up with Usablenet to upgrade TfL’s mobile site. The upgraded site will help tourists and Londoners navigate their way around the transport system and to find out how the Games will affect their travel plans.

It will offer Olympic alerts, where and how the Olympics will affect the transport system, a live Tube departure board that uses a phone’s GPS and sends updates on the closest stations, including live train arrival and departure times. A Tube map and an updated journey planner helping travellers plan their travel routes and get to their destinations on time.

Nick Taylor, ceo of Usablenet said: “Transport for London is committed to providing mobile users with the most up-to-date and relevant information on how to plan their Olympic travel, and we are excited to partner with them to help deliver a world-class mobile experience.”
Users of the mobile site will also be able to view alternative routes on foot and bicycle.
