By the end of October, India will see the opening of two new international airports, one in Mumbai and another in Delhi, increasing flight capacity and connectivity to and from the two major cities.
Navi Mumbai International Airport will be inaugurated on October 8, and Noida International Airport in Delhi will be inaugurated on October 30.
The Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation has already issued an aerodrome licence for Navi Mumbai Airport, with Noida Airport's licence expected to be issued soon.
Navi Mumbai International Airport will begin operations in December, according to the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO), the minority government stakeholder of the airport.
CIDCO VC and MD, Vijay Singhal, said the first terminal had been completed, with an annual passenger-handling capacity of 20 million.
Noida International Airport is also expected to begin operations by the end of the year, with its first terminal serving 12 million passengers annually.
