New biometric exemption for Schengen visas

SOUTH African passport
holders applying for a
French visa, who have
obtained a Schengen visa
previously and submitted
biometric data (i.e. digital
photograph and fingerprints),
are exempt from giving
biometric data again on
condition that:
 They have a copy of their
previous Schengen visa,
on which the remark ‘VIS’
appears.
 Their biometric data was
collected within the last
five years (within the past
59 months).
Travellers who meet these
requirements do not need to
appear in person to submit
their visa application. A third
party may submit this on
their behalf, but this must be
accompanied by a letter of
proxy completed and signed by
the applicant
