Batoka Hospitality Zimbabwe (BHZ) has acquired Gorges Lodge, Little Gorges and Zambezi Sands from Imvelo Safari Lodges. They are all located in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

BHZ said it intended to create “sustainable and economically empowered communities” in African tourism hubs by working with partners and community leaders to build better African communities for future generations.

"The building and developing of the Batoka Hospitality lodges has been an expression of my love and passion for Zimbabwe – my home – and our people. It has been a long-time dream of mine to create something for Africans in the African market," said Vimbai Masiyiwa, BHZ ceo.

Imvelo Safari Lodges md, Mark Butcher, said: "The COVID pandemic devastated tourism companies across Africa, but I'm very proud to say that we managed to craft a solution that not only saved many jobs but preserved some critical assets capable of generating revenue essential for both communities and conservation agencies in the post-COVID-19 era.

"Our parting is amicable and, as we move forward, we will work closely not only on the tourism front, with our shared clientele and reservations, but also on community and conservation initiatives."
