The Radisson Collection has made its debut in Istria, Croatia, with the opening of Grand Hotel Brioni Pula. Originally built in the 1970s, the hotel was one of the most prominent tourist hubs in the former Yugoslavia.
The property opened following an extensive R586m renovation and repositioning.
The hotel occupies a cliff-side location on the Adriatic, overlooking the Brijuni islands. It offers 227 rooms, infinity swimming pools, multiple restaurants and bars, and health and wellness facilities.
Restaurant Brioni Forum, one of the eateries, serves specialties with an emphasis on local recipes with fresh, local produce such as truffles, an integral part of the food history of Croatia’s most famous gastronomic region. Freshness of ingredients is at the heart of these culinary adventures, significant attention being given to quality and provenance, with all ingredients sourced locally from trusted producers and artisans.
The Wellness Centre, Gemma di Brioni, is the crowning glory of the hotel. It extends over two floors, with an indoor pool and whirlpool, three saunas and six treatment rooms. In addition to a 25m long indoor pool, there is a 60m long outdoor infinity pool with views of the ocean.
The hotel is digitalised and guests are encouraged to use their mobile devices to access all of the hotel's extensive services, including digital room key, control of air-conditioning, in-room TV, and lights.
The peninsula of Istria has a deep and ancient history, since the Romans described the Histri, the indigenous inhabitants as “fierce pirates”.
The town of Pula is home to Istria’s main international airport.
