No date for SAX return

THE South African Civil

Aviation Authority

reinstated South African

Express’s Air Operator

Certificate (AOC) on July 26,

clearing the airline for takeoff,

but the airline has yet to

confirm when it will resume

operations.

Nine of the carrier’s 21

aircraft were suspended for

failure to comply with the

requirements for AOC and

AMO (Aircraft Maintenance

Organisation) certification.

The CAA reinstated the

AMO certification just over

a month ago and the airline

has also got Certificates of

Airworthiness for two of its

aircraft.

For now, SAA, Mango Airlines

and Airlink’s schedules, which

were put in place to support

the SAX network, will continue

to operate until further notice.

The CAA told TNW that

the timeline for determining

the airworthiness of the

remainder of SAX’s aircraft

would depend on when the

airline was able to present

the aircraft for the certification

process.
