Norwegian Cruise Line has taken delivery of Norwegian Viva, the 19th ship in its fleet and its second Prima Class ship.

The new ship features a three-storey Viva Speedway go-kart racing track, as well as new dining concepts such as a food hall and an open-air market featuring 11 eateries, according to travelmole.com.

“Delivery marks an important milestone and we are beyond excited to bring this spectacular ship to life,” said David J Herrera, NCL President.

The 143 535-tonne vessel accommodates 3 100 guests.

Following its maiden voyage on August 10, it will sail through the Mediterranean and Greek Islands. It will then cross the Atlantic for its official christening ceremony in Miami on November 28 with Grammy award-winning artist and godfather to Norwegian Viva, Luis Fonsi.

Thereafter, the ship will homeport in San Juan for a season of Caribbean cruises from December 2023-March 2024. These will include trips to Tortola in the British Virgin Islands; St John’s in Antigua; Bridgetown, Barbados; and St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.
