Conrad Mortimer, former Company Secretary and Legal Adviser of Tourvest, died on September 21 after a long illness.
Mortimer was well-known as a character in the industry and for his long association with Gentlemen in Travel (GIT), having served on the committee since 2015, during which he chaired the association for two years. Friend and fellow committee member, Marco Cristofoli, said: “Conrad was always a giving person. He was always ready to help where it was needed.”
Mortimer retired from Tourvest in 2016. Louise van Zyl, who was his secretary for 23 years, said he joined Tourvest in 2002. “He was a very patient man, but also a no-nonsense person,” she said.
He loved water polo and his great passion was scuba diving.
He leaves his 21-year-old son, Tristan.
