Mozambican resort undergoes refurb
ANANTARA Medjumbe Island Resort & Spa in northern
Mozambique will close from August 1 to late November
for refurbishments. The Beach Pool Villas’ plunge pools
will be replaced with larger splash pools and a sea-facing
‘champagne step’ will be constructed at each villa. The
decks will be equipped with new outdoor furnishings and the
interiors of the villas and Anantara Spa will be upgraded.
New sliding, stacking windows and doors will be installed in
the central main building on the ground level, the bar will be
renovated and new light fittings will be installed throughout
the main area. A 400 kWp Solar PV plant will be installed
with a solar charger feeding a battery bank that can store
up to 1500 kWh. This will allow the resort to be powered
entirely by solar energy, reducing pollution and minimising
noise levels.
New activities at Kenyan camp
LAKE Elmenteita Serena Camp in Nakuru, Kenya, now offers
a range of new activities. Guests can now enjoy walking in
the area; watercolour painting; yoga; water aerobics; Swahili,
swimming and cooking lessons; badminton; a botanical tour;
and educational talks on the history of the Delamere and
Soysambu Conservancy and Lake Elmenteita. All activities
are complimentary and offered daily. The camp comprises 24
tents, all with private verandas overlooking Lake Elmenteita,
room service, a boutique gift shop, swimming pool, beauty
parlour and laundry services.
Kapama completes upgrades
KAPAMA Private Game Reserve in Hoedspruit, Limpopo, has
recently completed upgrades at Kapama Karula Lodge. The
lodge now comprises 12 Superior Suites, two of which have
been adapted as Family Suites. The original five suites at the
lodge have been converted into Superior Suites.
The lodge previously comprised two tents, which have since
been removed. Each Superior Suite has a private heated pool
on an elevated deck, a lounge area with a fireplace, an indoor
and outdoor shower, a mini bar and Nespresso machine. The
suites have glass sliding doors, allowing guests to view the
surrounding bushveld and Klaserie River.
The family suites have an open-plan living room that leads to
the master bedroom and en-suite bathroom, and the second
bedroom. A new multipurpose library has also been added,
which has two Internet stations and audio-visual equipment.
