THE exclusive Rocktail Bay Lodge, near the world heritage site St Lucia, is the recipient of two British Airways Tourism for Today Awards and will receive the awards at a ceremony held in London on February 22. Rocktail Bay Lodge, part of Wilderness Safaris, was awarded the 1999 BA Holidays/International Hotels Environment Initiative Award (IHEIA) as well as the 1999 Regional Highly Commended Award for the Southern Region (other regions are the Pacific, United Kingdom, the Americas and Europe). The five winning regions will compete for the Global Award which will be presented at the awards ceremony in February. The Kingdom at Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe won a Highly Commended Award in the BA Holidays/IHEI category. The Tourism for Today Awards, run by British Airways since 1992, recognise organisations in the tourism industry which have made a positive contribution towards their natural and cultural environment.
