Saudi tourism project to roll out in 2024

NEOM Sindalah

Neom, the new 26 500sqkm Saudi Arabian sustainable travel destination in the northwest of the country, expects to blend sustainability, innovation, access to nature and luxury in an immersive, eco-conscious and transformative travel experience.

The destination is designed so that structures occupy 5% of the space, leaving the rest to nature, according to the development company.

The most attention-grabbing part of the Neom development is The Line, the first phase of which is due to open in 2030. This is a supersize residential and mixed-use precinct in one building, which will eventually accommodate nine million people and will be built on a footprint of 34sq km, see here.

The earliest available destination in Neom will be Sindalah, opening to the public early in 2024. The coastal island with pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters will boast three luxury hotels offering fine-dining experiences and curated social and cultural events.

Sindalah will have a beach club and yacht club, an 86-berth marina and it says it will offer an idyllic setting for water sports and Red Sea exploration. Furthermore, the island will have a 5,9km par-70 golf course with a 360-degree view of the Red Sea, a spa and wellness centre, and 51 luxury retail outlets.

Ski Saudi Arabia

Trojena, a mountain resort, is due to open in 2026. At 2 400m above sea level, it will offer unforgettable views, luxury retail outlets, and many leisure and dining options. The mountain range receives three months of winter snowfall and will have 30km of ski slopes. The Vault freshwater lake will offer water sports.

NEOM Trojena

Trojena will host a variety of activities for each season: wellness, winter, adventure and the lake. Wellness Season will host educational summits on wellness and alternative medicine, yoga retreats and art and entertainment residencies. Winter Season will host a winter fashion week, music and film festivals and will offer winter sports. Adventure Season will include activities such as climbing, paragliding, mountain biking, and high-altitude training. Lake Season will host music and food festivals, art fairs, light shows, a culture week and water sports.

Trojena will welcome its first guests in 2026, and hopes to host the 2029 Asia Winter Games.
