SAX to resume Cape Town to Bloem and Walvis Bay route

SA Express (SAX) has resumed flights from Cape Town (CPT) to Bloemfontein (BFN) and Walvis Bay (WVB).

The airline’s interim ceo, Siza Mzimela, said the move showed the significant progress SAX had made in implementing its new business strategies. She noted that returning to key markets like Cape Town was a priority for the airline. “But instead of trying to be everything to everyone, we have adopted a new pragmatic model in the way we select our routes, so that, in the end, we only relaunch those routes that can be sustained.”

The routes will be serviced by a 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200. The flight schedules for the relaunched routes are as follows:

Cape Town-Bloemfontein

  • Flights SA 1081 and SA 1057 will depart CPT at 06h00 and 16h30, arriving in BFN at 07h30 and 18h00 respectively. Flight SA 1081 will operate on weekdays, while flight SA 1057 will be daily.
  • Flights SA 1082 and SA 1058 will depart BFN at 08h15 and 18h40, arriving in CPT at 10h00 and 20h25 respectively. Flight SA 1082 will operate on weekdays, while flight SA 1058 will be daily.

Cape Town-Walvis Bay

  • Flight SA 1721 will depart CPT daily at 10h55, arriving in WVB at 13h05.
  • Flight SA 1722 will depart WVB daily at 13h35, arriving in CPT at 15h35.
