South African ITCs set sail on inaugural FCI Icons voyage

15 Nov 2023
FCI's ExCo team

Top South African ITCs shone on the inaugural global Flight Centre Independent (FCI) Icons trip from November 1-4 on Uniworld’s S.S. Beatrice.

The historic journey brought together 76 high achievers from FCI’s independent agencies worldwide to celebrate success and connect with peers and partners.

South African attendee Gary De Sa called it “unforgettable”, praising the unique experiences and offerings from sponsors. Ane Steyn described the glitz and glamour of travelling with FCI friends from five continents. Wendy Murray valued the chance to share ideas with global colleagues, noting: “It’s always good to know people in other countries if you ever need assistance with a destination or supplier.”

FCI's South African Icons

The exclusive event welcomed an illustrious group of representatives, with Uniworld, TTC Tour Brands, Adventure World, Lindblad Expeditions, Cover More, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Expedia TAAP, and Inclusive Collection, part of the World of Hyatt, creating a formidable networking and educational environment. Other sponsors like Intrepid, AAT Kings, Back Roads Touring, and Norwegian Cruise Line also supported the event virtually.

Attendees were treated to exquisite experiences, including Trafalgar’s Be My Guest luncheon at Schieszl Winery and an unforgettable silent disco afterparty hosted by Singapore Airlines, complete with SQ business-class pyjamas.

FCI's Global Icons

The opulent trip highlighted FCI’s commitment to sustainability through carbon offsets and marked a new era for global networking and excellence for independent travel consultants.

Chantal Gouws, GM of Flight Centre Independent Brands, called it “an extraordinary experience for distinguished top performers”. “FCI looks ahead to Icons 2024, continuing to unite and celebrate the industry’s leading talent.”
