The Spanish government looks set to reject the EU proposal that unvaccinated people, or those who have had only one dose of vaccine, may use evidence of a prior COVID infection to enter the country.
The EU proposed that these travellers should be allowed to travel to Spain provided they had evidence of having recovered from COVID within the prior 180 days.
The Madrid government looks set to reject the rule and stick with the philosophy that all entrants over 12 years should be double vaccinated, with the last jab no more than 270 days prior.
The Spanish Tourist Office in the UK, a crucial market for Spanish Tourism, according to UK media said: “Spain is in discussions with the EU and its partners about a possible review of the entry requirements for tourists from third countries with a view to making the current measures more flexible. The situation could change in the near future.”
