Star Flyer gives Gen Z unlimited flights

Japanese airline Star Flyer has just wrapped up its ambitious Star Pass programme that allowed selected customers to fly an unlimited number of times between Tokyo International Airport and Kitakyushu Airport within 30 days.

The promotion’s goal was to help boost the airline’s business while it recovers from the lengthy COVID-19 pandemic effects. Passengers could fly as many times as they wanted between the two airports from May 15-June 13. The pass cost just ¥40 000 (R5 200) for Gen Z flyers aged 12-26, but ¥150 000 (R19 600) for older adults.

According to Bloomberg, 550 people applied for the pass and 90 were randomly chosen by Star Flyer.

Announcing the Star Pass, the airline said customers could board as many times as they wanted on weekends and weekdays, but needed to still book a seat in advance for certain morning, noon, and night slots.
