MSC again raised the bar as a TIGC sponsor at Country Club Johannesburg on Thursday, April 18, by bringing four professional golfers into the mix. Here, two of them help out Ross Volk, MD of MSC South Africa, with his putting stroke. Crouching on the left is Jacques Kruyswijk and standing on the right, Jacques Blaauw.

It was proposed at this week’s AGM of the Travel Industry Golf Club (TIGC) in Johannesburg that the committee take over the running of the country.

An attendee pointed out that by any measure, the committee is exemplary in improving the offering, forward planning, timely transparency and healthy finances.

The sponsors too are raising the bar with top courses like Country Club Johannesburg and Steyn City on the schedule of six games a year.

14 weeks after the completion of the year, members had the full financial picture of 2023 when a surplus of R44 000 was recorded, bringing retained income up to
R260 000.

The committee of Marco Cristofoli as Chairman, Jason Veitch, Treasurer, and Rob Jasper was re-elected.

Membership is open to anyone in the travel industry and is R500 a year. Applications can be made to Nikki Wood at tigcjoburg@gmail.com.

Principal sponsors are MSC, aha Hotels, Southern Sun, TIC, Travelex and Hollard.
