TAAG connects Angola with Spain

01 Jul 2022

TAAG launched its new route to Europe with its inaugural flight to Madrid-Barajas International Airport on Monday, June 27.

TAAG codeshares with Iberia on the route, giving passengers arriving in Madrid access to Iberia’s network across Europe and the Americas.

Likewise, travellers travelling from Europe may now seamlessly access TAAG’s African and South American network. Other than the Angolan’s carrier’s connections to Lisbon and now Madrid, it offers routes to Johannesburg and Cape Town, São Paulo, Windhoek, Kinshasa, Brazzaville, Maputo, Lagos and São Tomé (São Tomé and Príncipe), plus a number of domestic destinations inside Angola.

A 293-seat Boeing 777-300ER aircraft is used on the route, with 12 lie-flat seats in first class; 56 lie-flat seats in business-class seats and 225 seats in economy class.

Flights operate twice a week on Sundays and Thursdays from Luanda. The return flights from Madrid operate on Mondays and Fridays.

From 2011 until 2016, Iberia serviced this route but was not successful as, at the time, the correct levels of demand were not present.
