Until March 31, 2023, travellers to Thailand from South Africa will be allowed to stay for 45 days without prior approval, under the tourist Visa Exemption scheme.
The 45-day rule applies to passport holders from a list of European and Asian countries, plus New Zealand and Australia, but South Africa is the only African country on the list.
Travellers entering Thailand do not have to show Proof of Vaccination or COVID-19 test results and no longer have to register for the Thailand Pass or Certificate of Entry.
However, it is still recommended that tourists take out travel insurance.
Visitors are reminded to make sure their passports are valid for at least six months from entry.
