Tiger Airways hearing adjourned again

A scheduled Federal Court hearing on the Civil Aviation Safety Authority’s application to continue the suspension of Tiger Airways Australia has again been adjourned. The matter has now been adjourned to August 5 and the airline’s suspension will continue until at least then.

CASA applied to the Federal Court on July 7 to continue the suspension of Tiger Airways in order to complete its investigations of “serious safety issues” identified within the airline’s operations.

CASA’s investigations have been completed and a set of proposed conditions to be imposed on Tiger Airways’ air operator’s certificate has been served on the airline.

These conditions must now be met before CASA will be satisfied it is safe to allow Tiger to resume operations.

A statement from CASA said the airline had responded positively and had been providing it with the evidence necessary to demonstrate how it would meet the conditions.

CASA is currently assessing the documentation as it is received and once the airline has submitted, and CASA has verified all the documentation required, CASA will be in a position to decide whether to lift Tiger’s suspension.

CASA continued to say that if and when that occurs, it would withdraw its application to the Federal Court.
