TK drives agents to NDC

Turkish Airlines has sent out a notification to agents in South Africa that a new “distribution cost recovery fee” will be applied to reservations made through traditional GDS channels (EDIFACT channels).

On October 1, when the airline launches its new NDC channel, TKCONNECT, an additional fee of US$24 (R420) per ticket will be applied to all reservations made through GDS  EDIFACT channels.

There will be no fees applied through NDC channels, nor on bookings on the airline’s website or mobile app.

The announcement says: “We highly value your partnership and your efforts to adapt to the innovations in our industry. In this regard, we are pleased to inform you that the majority of our agencies have successfully integrated into the TKCONNECT system.”

The airline says the traditional GDS content will continue to be available with the fee applied.
