To the point

Air Zimbabwe is set to resume its Harare-London service after stopping flights four years ago. Marketing
manager, Christopher Kwenda, said the airline had applied for a route licence and was awaiting the UK
authority's response. “We had targeted the beginning of July but there are new licensing requirements from
the UK and the EU. We will know the exact dates as soon as we satisfy those requirements,” Christopher
said. “Operating equipment and the crew are already in place. Once the route licence has been issued, we
will be ready to commence operations.” Air Zimbabwe was forced to terminate the route in 2012 and is
now negotiating to clear a US$2,8m (R41,2m) debt owed to the UK air navigation agency.
