Prague airport train is on track

A key section of the rail link between Prague city center and Václav Havel Airport will open on August 1 after two years of construction work, bringing the project closer to completion.

The stretch between Bubny and Výstaviště stations in the Prague 7 municipal district, part of the line connecting Prague with the city of Kladno and the airport, is in its final construction phase.

Journey times from the airport to the city centre should be 25 minutes. The complete line is expected to be operational in the next five years, according to Expats CZ.

Etihad Rail to connect all Emirates

The 900km-long Etihad Rail will connect 11 cities across all seven emirates of the UAE.

According to Timeout Dubai, the first passenger train station will be built in Sakamkam, Fujairah. The second station will be constructed near the University City of Sharjah. The other two Emirates included in the plans so far are Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The Etihad Rail passenger train is being designed by Spain’s CAF, which will manufacture, supply and provide maintenance on the trains. Trains will seat over 400 passengers in first, business and economy class and will run up to 200kph.

A high-speed rail project is also in the works to connect Abu Dhabi and Dubai in 30 minutes.

Plans for Colorado ski train

Plans for a ski train to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, are under way after Colorado signed a 25-year rail agreement with transport company Union Pacific to expand mountain rail services from Denver.

Colorado has rights to operate three roundtrip trains daily through the Moffat Tunnel, a route crossing the Rockies.

According to The Colorado Sun, services from Denver to Granby will begin by 2026. The phased plan includes stops in Fraser, Granby, Steamboat Springs and eventually Craig.

Currently, skiers use the Amtrak Winter Park Express on the first part of the route after departing from Denver, but passenger trains have not operated to far northwest Colorado since 1968.
