The UK Home Office is bringing the family visitor visa in line with all other visitor visa categories by removing the right of appeal for applicants who have been refused entry to the UK as family visitors.
The Home Office said the change was expected to come into force on or soon after June 25 and applicants who were refused entry as family visitors could re-apply, addressing the reasons for refusal instead of appealing. According to the Home Office, this will be quicker and cost less than an appeal.
Statistics provided by the Home Office show that in 2011-12, 95% of applications were decided within 15 days, whereas the appeal system can take up to eight months to deliver a result.
