The UK’s National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) has released a statement saying that 20 000 railway workers will be participating in strikes for three days this month.
The strikes will disrupt railway transport services across Britain on July 20, 22 and 29, coinciding with The Open golf tournament being held at Royal Liverpool Golf Club from July 16-23.
Affected lines include Chiltern Railways, Cross Country Trains, Greater Anglia, LNER, East Midlands Railway, c2c, Great Western Railway, Northern Trains, South Eastern, South Western Railway, Transpennine Express, Avanti West Coast, West Midlands Trains and GTR, including Gatwick Express.
The Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) has announced an overtime ban until July 8, which could also disrupt rail services.
