United Airlines has purchased 50 new Airbus A321XLRs, as it starts to replace its existing fleet of Boeing 757-200s.
The new aircraft will be used on selected transatlantic routes, and United expects to bring them into service in 2024.
The fleet overhaul will allow the carrier to explore serving more destinations in Europe from its US east coast hubs in Newark/New York and Washington.
The A321XLR will offer an improved inflight experience and features larger overhead bin space and WiFi connectivity.
United begins taking delivery of the aircraft in 2024 and will defer its additional order of Airbus A350s until 2027.
