UPDATE: Cyclone warning lifted

The tropical storm that was forecast for January 25 has passed and Mauritius Meteorological Services has since lifted all cyclone warnings for Mauritius.

The moderate tropical storm (storm Diane) has moved away from the island and is no longer a threat.

Although there is no longer a cyclone warning in place, it is still strongly advised not to venture out to sea.

Last updated January 27.

From January 24, a Class II cyclone warning is in effect in Mauritius and there is a potential threat just north of the island tomorrow morning (Saturday).

Mauritius Meteorological Services issued its fourth cyclone bulletin today, which reports that a tropical disturbance is developing into a tropical depression close to the island, noting that, as the system evolves, it could intensify into a moderate tropical storm overnight.

Intermittent rain will become more frequent in the afternoon and may be sometimes moderate to heavy with thunderstorms.

People are advised to maintain all preliminary precautions.  The sea will be rough and sea trips are not recommended.
