Vaxxed arrivals can enter Singapore

Singapore Airlines has some good news for South Africans! From April 1, all fully vaccinated travellers on all Singapore Airlines and Scoot flights will enjoy quarantine-free entry into Singapore without any on-arrival testing.

All travellers must still meet prevailing visa requirements and also must take a pre-departure test – either the PCR or the Antigen test is acceptable – which needs to be taken within the two days before departure.

Visitors must also purchase travel insurance with a minimum cover of US$30 000 (approximately ZAR436 400) for Covid-19-related medical treatment and hospitalisation costs, prior to travel to Singapore.

This means that SIA and Scoot will no longer designate specific Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) flights from April 1. The airline advises that existing customers who are currently booked on a VTL flight on or after April 1, may still travel as planned. They need not make any changes to their booking.

Travellers who are not fully vaccinated will be subject to prevailing quarantine and testing requirements.

More information on the changes to entry requirements for Singapore can be found on Singapore’s Safe Travel.

Singapore Airlines currently has daily flights between Singapore and  Cape Town, via Johannesburg.

SQ 478 departs Singapore daily at 01h30, arriving Johannesburg 06h10. The flight from Johannesburg, SQ479 departs daily at 13h45 and arrives in Singapore at 06h10 the following day.
