Victoria Falls Steam Train back on track

The Victoria Falls Steam Train Company has been relaunched following a complete reshaping and remodelling, from its corporate identity to the refurbishment of its historic carriages.

The company has offered an exclusive way to view the Victoria Falls from a steam train parked on the famous Victoria Falls Bridge since 1997.

The train comprises two museum dining cars, two first-class lounge coaches, a cocktail bar and baggage car. It can carry up to 150 passengers.

The company has also announced that a vintage-style diesel tram has been ordered and is presently under construction in Johannesburg. The tram is modelled on the open-sided Brill Trams of circa 1890 and will seat approximately 30 passengers.
The tram will operate from the Victoria Falls Station, offering a daily, scheduled service to the Victoria Falls Bridge and rain forest. It will also offer runs and transfers from Palm Grove siding (opposite the Royal Livingstone) and Livingstone Station. In addition, the tram will offer transfers to the game reserves and all activities on the rail line south to Jafuta and Sekuti.

The tram is expected to start scheduled runs in mid-May.
