The Vietnam Ministry of Tourism has confirmed that the country will fully reopen to international tourists on March 15, and lift almost all COVID-19-related restrictions on the same day.
The reopening is scheduled a whole three months earlier than originally planned.
Under the ministry’s current proposal, one day’s quarantine for visitors will still be required, as well as proof of a negative PCR test taken in the 72 hours before departure.
A more detailed reopening plan is still expected to be released soon by the relevant authorities.
In November 2021, Vietnam began reopening to some tourists, allowing visits to specific locations in the country under a vaccine passport programme.
Nearly 77% of the nation’s 98 million population has now been fully vaccinated.
