Booking site, Wingie, recently compiled a list of the most overrated and underrated tourist attractions in the world based on data from TripAdvisor reviews.

Overrated attractions are those with a high number of reviews and many negative keywords. The UK topped the list for overrated attractions, with Warwick Castle taking first place. The centuries-old castle received more than 1 000 reviews referring to the site as “disappointing”, “expensive”, and “not worth it”.

The second most overrated attraction on the list was Kampong Phluk in Cambodia. The floating village in Siem Riep was reviewed as a “scam” as well as “expensive” and “not worth it”.

Stonehenge in Wiltshire, England came third, being described as “expensive” and “not worth it” more than 1 000 times.

The list of underrated global gems, on the other hand, compiles attractions with fewer reviews and a high ratio of compliments.

Jamaica’s Ahhh Ras Natango Gallery and Garden in Montego Bay takes the top spot. The garden features terraces carved into the hillside for viewing Montego Bay, 610 metres above sea level. It was described as “breathtaking”, “amazing”, and “a must-see”.

Ireland’s National Stud and Gardens in County Kildare is second on the list, receiving words such as, “interesting”, “excellent”, “friendly”, and “beautiful”.

The third most underrated attraction is Al Noor Island in Sharjah in the UAE, with an average ratio of one compliment per review, the island is said to be “amazing” and “beautiful”, with friendly staff members.

On the African continent, Kenya’s Kiambethu Tea Farm featured in seventh place of the underrated attractions list. The farm was built in 1910 and is close to the centre of Nairobi.
