Zimbabwe reopens all ports of entry

Zimbabwe’s government has ordered the reopening of all the country’s ports of entry with immediate effect.

Speaking to reporters, Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said the decision had been reached after a Cabinet meeting in Harare on Tuesday (February 15).

Mutsvangwa also confirmed that travellers aged six years and older would still be required to present a valid negative PCR test taken no more than 48 hours prior to arrival in the country.

Confusion around ‘booster shot advantage’

Despite a post on Twitter from the Zimbabwean Ministry of Information, Publicity & Broadcasting that asserted that “all persons entering Zimbabwe […] must be fully vaccinated” and that “those with a booster shot have an entry advantage”, airline operators on the ground have indicated to Travel News that there is confusion around exactly what effect this announcement will have on travellers.

No further communication has come from the government regarding an update in entry regulations, and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority could not be reached for comment.

Iata’s Timatic interactive world map, used by travel agents to access country-by-country travel regulations worldwide, does not currently specify any vaccination requirements for entry to Zimbabwe.
