As part of Greece’s Creation of Integrated Accessible Tourist Marine Destinations’ project, it is making 287 of its beaches accessible to wheelchair users.

According to the Mirror, the beaches will use new high-tech tracks created by Greek company, Seatrac, which allow users to move down the beach. A handrail is provided to get into the sea.

The remote-operated tracks have already been installed at 140 Greek beaches.

The project will also see the installation of wheelchair-friendly beach facilities, such as portable changing rooms and sanitary facilities, corridors, shading and protection areas for bathers, as well as the creation of disabled parking areas.

Travellers can check which beaches are wheelchair-accessible through an interactive map on the Seatrac website.
