Air travel round-up: EK adds HKT flight

Emirates has added a third daily flight to Phuket (HKT).

The route will be operated by an Airbus A350 in a three-class configuration, with 32 lie-flat seats in business class, 28 in premium economy and 238 in economy class.

The flight will depart Dubai (DXB) at 22h40, arriving in Phuket at 08h10 the following day. The return service will depart Phuket at 10h00, arriving in Dubai at 13h05.

BA introduces new app for customers

British Airways is rolling out its new app for download on iOS and Android devices.

The app will offer faster boarding pass access, push notifications and self-service options including the ability to change bookings in the app. 

Features also include:

  • Redesigned interface with simpler navigation
  • Integrated booking, check-in and offline digital boarding passes
  • Live travel updates and notifications
  • Personalised day-of-travel dashboard
  • Enhanced self-service, passport scanning and biometric profiles
  • Heathrow Terminal 5 maps and lounge occupancy information

The app also offers more British Airways Club features. Members can check their statements, view and edit personal details and access their vouchers while also tracking their Avios, Tier Point balance and status progress. Club members can also store passport details for future flights and manage saved travel companions.

Updates are expected in the coming months, including the ability to redeem Reward Flights and vouchers, expanded self-service options and tools for real-time baggage tracking. 

EY ups Europe routes

Etihad Airways has increased capacity across its network with additional flights to Brussels, more seasonal flights to Kraków, and extended seasonal services to Palma de Mallorca.

  • Abu Dhabi-Brussels will increase from seven to 11 weekly flights from December 15. The route will be operated by an Airbus A321LR configured in first class, business class and economy. 
  • Krakow services will increase from three to four flights per week, starting July 27. The seasonal service will be operated by an A321LR, connecting Abu Dhabi to the strong demand for southern Poland.
  • Palma de Mallorca seasonal flights have been extended through to October 18, operated by an Airbus A321LR. 

Flydubai launches daily Bangkok flights

Flydubai has launched daily services to Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) in Bangkok, marking its second destination in Thailand, alongside Krabi. 

Flights will depart DXB at 01h35, arriving at DMK at 11h25. The return service departs DMK at 23h50 and arrives in DXB at 03h25 the following day. 

“Starting with one daily flight and operated with Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, this route will add much-needed capacity to Thailand this summer, building momentum through to our year-end peak season,” said Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
