Air travel round-up: EK introduces Premium Economy on Bangkok flights

Emirates’ premium economy cabin has been rolled out on flights between Dubai and Bangkok, operated by its newly retrofitted A380 aircraft.

The airline has now extended its premium economy experience to over 70 cities globally.

Located at the front of the main deck, the 56 premium economy seats are laid out in a 2-4-2 configuration. Each seat is equipped with a 34cm HD screen, with Bluetooth pairing capabilities.

Passengers are served meals reflecting regional flavours on Royal Doulton china, accompanied by a selection of beverages and vintage wines.

EY begins daily flights to ADD

Etihad Airways began daily flights to Addis Ababa earlier this month, marking the airline’s debut in Ethiopia.

Flights depart Abu Dhabi at 09h00 and arrive in Addis Ababa at 12h35. The return flight departs Addis Ababa at 13h55 and arrives in Abu Dhabi at 19h15.

Cathay extends in-flight Wi-Fi

Cathay Pacific will extend complimentary Wi-Fi services to Cathay Gold members in all cabins from November 15.

Complimentary Wi-Fi is now available to first- and business-class passengers, as well as Diamond and Gold members. The airline plans to roll out Wi-Fi to passengers in premium economy by the end of the year.

The Wi-Fi services allow passengers to check emails, browse the Internet, stream audio, use social media and messaging apps, and access cloud storage services and other professional apps.

Scoot expands Indonesian network

Singapore Airlines’ low-cost subsidiary, Scoot, will launch flights to four new Indonesian destinations during the northern winter: Labuan Bajo, Medan, Palembang and Semarang.

From December 21, Scoot will offer two weekly flights to Labuan Bajo, known for its beaches, coral reefs and as a gateway to Komodo National Park.

The airline will launch daily flights to Medan from February 1, 2026. Medan is home to landmarks such as Maimun Palace, the Grand Mosque, Tjong A Fie Mansion and Lake Toba, the largest volcanic lake in the world.

From January 15, 2026, Palembang will see four weekly flights. The city is known for its historic landmarks, including the Great Mosque of Palembang and Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Museum.

Scoot will offer three weekly flights to Semarang from January 1, 2026. The city is known for landmarks such as the Lawang Sewu building and the Great Mosque of Central Java.

United ups Europe summer flight schedule

United Airlines announced its summer 2026 schedule with services to four new cities across Croatia, Italy, Scotland and Spain.

The new flights will operate between Newark and Split, Croatia, three times a week from April 30; Bari, Italy, four times a week from May 1; Glasgow, Scotland, daily from May 1; and Santiago de Compostela, Spain, three times a week from May 27.

The airline is also adding its first service between Washington-Dulles and Reykjavik, Iceland, daily from May 21; a new year-round daily service from Newark to Seoul, South Korea, from September 4; and four additional weekly flights between Newark and Tel Aviv, Israel, from March 28.
