Air travel round-up: EY introduces new SE Asia routes

Etihad Airways has introduced new routes to two Southeast Asian destinations, Medan in Indonesia and Phnom Penh in Cambodia.

Flight EY480 departs Abu Dhabi on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 20h45 and arrives in Medan at 06h45 the following day. Return flight EY481 departs Medan on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 08h55 and arrives in Abu Dhabi at 12h50.

Flight EY434 departs Abu Dhabi on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, at 21h10 and arrives in Phnom Penh at 07h20 the following day. Return flight EY435 departs Phnom Penh on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 08h40 and arrives in Abu Dhabi at 13h00.

LH expands Allegris to Frankfurt

Lufthansa is introducing its new Allegris cabins on its new Dreamliner B787-9 flights from Frankfurt after the product was introduced last year on Airbus A350s from Munich.

The first Allegris service from Frankfurt to Toronto launched earlier this month operated by the Boeing 787-9s.

Allegris cabins will also be available on flights from Frankfurt to Rio de Janeiro, Bogotá and Hyderabad during the winter schedule, starting late October. Services to Austin will be added in December.

More long-haul destinations for Allegris will be announced following the delivery of additional Boeing 787 aircraft in the coming weeks.

AF opens Chicago lounge

Air France has opened its new lounge in Terminal 5 of Chicago’s O'Hare International Airport, for Business and Flying Blue Elite Plus customers, as well as eligible KLM travellers.

The 470sqm lounge is open every day from 05h00-23h30 and offers 105 seats.

The dining area serves French culinary options throughout the day. The bar has a bartender or self-service option and features a selection of champagnes, French wines and spirits.

Flying Blue Ultimate customers have access to a dedicated space within the lounge.

LATAM suspends LIM-HAV route

LATAM will suspend its route between Lima and Havana for flights departing on or after March 11, 2026.

The decision was made following the financial performance of the route as well as the upcoming Unified Airport Use Fee for transfers at Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport.

SWISS welcomes first A350

SWISS International Air Lines welcomed its first Airbus A350 to its home hub at Zurich Airport in early October.

The airline will initially use the aircraft on short European flights.

The first A350 passenger flight has been scheduled from Zurich to Palma de Mallorca on October 25. The new aircraft’s first long-haul service will be to Boston on November 20.
