FAA propose Boeing fine
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is proposing to fine Boeing more than $3,1 million (R53,9 million) for safety violations that occurred between September 2023 and February 2024.
These include actions related to the January 2024 Alaska Airlines door plug blowout and interference with safety officials’ independence.
The FAA identified hundreds of quality system violations at a Boeing factory and with a Boeing subcontractor. Boeing also attempted to receive airworthiness certificates for unairworthy aircraft.
Furthermore, the FAA found that a Boeing Official Development Assistance unit member had been pressured into signing off an aircraft despite it not complying with standards.
As of September 12, Boeing has 30 days to respond to the FAA.
