Delta improves boarding process at Atlanta
DELTA customers at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International
Airport can now enjoy a more streamlined boarding process at five
Delta departure gates. The latest upgrade to the boarding process
features branded pillars to create four parallel lanes, keeping
customers out of the walkway and providing a separate queuing
area for premium customers and those needing special assistance.
This boarding process will continue to roll out at more Delta gates
across the airport as part of a $400 million (R5,3bn) terminal and
concourse renovation.
Amadeus partners with Emirates
AGENTS can now make advance seat reservation through the
Amadeus distribution channel on Emirates flights. Advance seat
reservation will allow travel agents to book their client’s seat at the
time of purchase. Emirates also recently launched its branded fares
in the Amadeus distribution channel, and the airline now has the
tools to differentiate its brand, maximise sales and engage with
travellers and travel agents in new and innovative ways through
Amadeus.
BA changes payment and check-in procedure
BRITISH Airways no longer accepts cash payments at the UK and
North American airports it operates from. Payments include those
for extra bags, additional/exit-row seats, change of tickets and
service charges. At London Heathrow and North American airports,
travellers can purchase a Multi-Currency Cash Passport from
Travelex that can be used to make payments instead. At North
American airports, travellers can also use cash-to-credit card kiosks
to convert cash into a prepaid debit card for a $5 (R67) charge
per transaction. In other news, BA is advising travellers that the
check-in times for long- and short-haul flights from London Gatwick
have changed. Travellers can check in at least 60 minutes before
departure for long-haul flights and 45 minutes before departure for
short-haul flights.
